PACALIX, by Simon Maxam. Ideas, built in 3D.

In the beginning
Every idea starts
with a question.
Momentum
An idea moves
from hand to hand.
Build
it.
It is dark in here. Bring light.
We make things you can walk into, hold, and play.
Websites that feel like places.
Details you only find by looking.
Particles with a purpose, not decoration.
Built to be found by the curious.
Look closer.

A noodle-bowl ordering experience built around a 3D bowl you can explore ingredient by ingredient.
My own corner of the web: websites, apps and interactive 3D, with a 3D guitar and songs you can listen to.

Where the name comes from
Pacalix. Built like the beaver.
Pacalix is our nod to Palaeocastor, an ancient beaver that dug giant spirals into the ground some 25 million years ago. They are still there today. The best builders leave something that lasts. And the beaver is Canada's own.
Its aspen grows here, trunk by trunk. Stir it with your cursor, or tilt your phone.

Ovenlight, pizza by the slice.
We built a whole pizza shop in 3D: grab the pizza, turn it over, pull a slice out, build your own. This is its model, rebuilt from grains. Every sauce and topping is its own piece.

About
Simon Maxam
Founder of PACALIX. I build interactive 3D websites, products and games, and I play guitar on stage the same way I code: patient, then suddenly fast.
- The inspiration. PACALIX is our nod to Palaeocastor, an extinct beaver from the early days of the beaver family, some 25 to 30 million years ago, when North America was open plains.
- The builder. Palaeocastor dug deep corkscrew burrows into the ground. Fossil spirals up to about two and a half metres deep are still found today, which is why early settlers called them "devil's corkscrews". Millions of years later, what it built is still there.
- The philosophy. Make work that lasts. We chose the name, and the beaver as our symbol of Canada, to stand for patient, careful building: dig deep, build it right, leave something that stays standing.
- The name. PACALIX is short, easy to say and easy to remember, the same in every language. Ancient builder, new experiences.
